Car AC Repair in Altamonte Springs, FL

Auto Air Conditioning Service You Can Count On

When your car’s air conditioning quits, Florida lets you know fast. At Zych’s Certified Auto, our ASE-certified technicians find out exactly why your A/C isn’t keeping up and fix the real problem, not just the symptom.

Your vehicle’s A/C system is more than a fan and some refrigerant. It is a sealed system with a compressor, condenser, evaporator, expansion valve, hoses, sensors and electronic controls that all have to work together. We test the whole system, including scanning the climate control computer with our Autel MaxiSys Ultra diagnostic scanner, before recommending any repair.

What Our A/C Service Covers

  • Full A/C performance check and vent temperature test
  • Refrigerant leak detection and repair
  • System evacuation and refrigerant recharge
  • Compressor and clutch diagnosis and replacement
  • Condenser, evaporator and hose repair
  • Blower motor, blend door and climate control repair
  • Cabin air filter replacement

Signs Your Car’s A/C Needs Attention

Catching a problem early usually means a simpler, less expensive repair. A/C trouble can also be tied to your cooling system or electrical system, so we check the connections, too. Bring your vehicle in if you notice any of these:

  • Air blows warm, or only cools while driving at highway speed
  • Weak airflow from the vents, even on the highest setting
  • Musty or sour smell when the A/C turns on
  • Clicking, rattling or squealing when the A/C kicks on
  • Water on the floor mats or under the dash
  • Windows that are slow to clear on rainy days

Built for Central Florida Heat

In Altamonte Springs, your A/C isn’t a summer luxury. It works hard almost all year. The Orlando area averages about 110 days a year at 90°F or hotter, and the first 90-degree day usually shows up around April 1. Add our humidity, and the system is pulling a lot of heat and moisture out of your cabin on every drive.

Parked cars heat up fast, too. Researchers at Arizona State University found that a car parked in the sun averaged 116°F inside after just one hour. Every time you start the car, your A/C has to pull that heat back out.

Why Florida Driving Is Tough on A/C

  • Stop-and-go traffic: on SR 436 and I-4, less air moves across the condenser, so the system works harder to stay cool.
  • Humidity and storms: your A/C also dries the air, which is what clears a fogged windshield during afternoon downpours. A weak system is a visibility problem, not just a comfort one.
  • Year-round use: with almost no off-season, seals, belts and compressors wear faster than in cooler climates.

Our tip: have your A/C checked each spring, before the 90-degree days arrive.

Car A/C Repair FAQs

In Central Florida, once a year is a good rule. Early spring is the best time, before the first 90-degree days.
The most common causes are low refrigerant from a leak, a failing compressor or compressor clutch, an electrical fault, or a stuck blend door. A proper diagnosis tells you which one, so you only pay for the repair you need.
A/C systems are sealed, so low refrigerant almost always means there is a leak. Adding refrigerant without fixing the leak only buys a little time, and overcharging the system can damage the compressor. We find and fix the leak first.
Moisture collects on the evaporator, and in our humidity that can lead to mold and mildew odors. A new cabin air filter and a system cleaning usually solve it.
Our ASE-certified technicians service both Asian and domestic vehicles. Give us a call if you are not sure about yours.
