Meet Jim Zych – The heart of Zych’s Certified Auto, and he’s been under the hood for as long as he can remember.

Jim Zych’s passion for mechanics started early—first with neighborhood bicycle repairs, then moving on to lawn mowers, and eventually cars. By high school, his natural talent was undeniable. In 1967, Jim won the Florida state title in the Plymouth Trouble Shooting Contest, a prestigious recognition of his automotive skill and problem-solving ability.

While attending college, Jim worked part-time at local dealerships, gaining hands-on experience and refining his craft. After several years in the dealership world, he took a leap of faith and opened his own shop in 1976. Driven by a commitment to excellence, Jim became one of the first 500 technicians in the country to earn ASE certification and has maintained his status as an ASE Certified Master Technician for over 38 years.

Today, Jim continues to help guide Zych’s Certified Auto under its new owner, Storm Zych, who also happens to be Jim’s son, with the same dedication, precision, and integrity that built the foundation of the business. Together, they ensure the shop remains a trusted name in Altamonte Springs and the Orlando area, known for honest work and long-lasting customer relationships.
